"I still think we're in the early innings on the watch," Cook said on the call. "The number of new people that are new to the Watch is almost three out of four, and so this is a long way from being a mature market."

Apple first released the Apple Watch in 2015 with a $349 price tag. The Watch has been updated with new features in each subsequent generation, like adding heart-rate monitoring to the Series 4 or blood oxygen monitoring to the Series 6, along with an updated, faster chip.

There has long been speculation by locals that the marine predators may be drawn to the areas off the coast of La Jolla Cove and the Children's Pool, where a large population of seals and sea lions have made themselves at home for decades.

One local scientist recently told NBC 7: "Once [mature female great whites] give birth, they likely start to feed on seals/sea lions again, but we [assume] mainly around the [offshore Catalina and North Channel Islands]. where a majority of the seal/sea lion population reside during the summer."

The pinniped, which was obviously in terrible pain and terror, can be seen on the video repeatedly attempting to dive. Gibbons said the sea lion was still about 6 feet long, despite missing its lower half, suggesting it was an adult.

NBC 7 reached out to the Shark Lab to see if their team was aware of any mature white sharks spotted locally, but they said they had not. Christoper Lowe, who is a professor of marine biology at CSULB, said in an email that adult white sharks "are rare off SoCal beaches, but are more common off the offshore islands (Catalina, N. Channel Islands)."

Lowe said he wasn't surprised "there are occasional sightings of adults predating on seals along the shoreline, but have to say it's still pretty rare compared to [juvenile] white shark sightings along the beaches." He added that some adults that have been tagged are detected passing through, though it's rare. He said that none had been "detected on our receivers in the last year or so." Not all great whites have been tagged, of course.

"State Parks would like to remind visitors that sharks are an important part of the coastal ecosystem and that interactions between humans and sharks are rare along the coast of Southern California," Homer added.

Of course, the mature sharks don't recognize any borders, which is why it may not be a surprise that a large shark was spotted north of San Diego just days after Gibbons recorded video of the large great white off La Jolla.

Erythropoiesis occurs mostly in bone marrow and ends in blood stream. Mature red blood cells are generated from multipotent hematopoietic stem cells, through a complex maturation process involving several morphological changes to produce a highly functional specialized cells. In mammals, terminal steps involved expulsion of the nucleus from erythroblasts that leads to the formation of reticulocytes. In order to produce mature biconcave red blood cells, organelles and ribosomes are selectively eliminated from reticulocytes as well as the plasma membrane undergoes remodeling. The mechanisms involved in these last maturation steps are still under investigation. Enucleation involves dramatic chromatin condensation and establishment of the nuclear polarity, which is driven by a rearrangement of actin cytoskeleton and the clathrin-dependent generation of vacuoles at the nuclear-cytoplasmic junction. This process is favored by interaction between the erythroblasts and macrophages at the erythroblastic island. Mitochondria are eliminated by mitophagy. This is a macroautophagy pathway consisting in the engulfment of mitochondria into a double-membrane structure called autophagosome before degradation. Several mice knock-out models were developed to identify mitophagy-involved proteins during erythropoiesis, but whole mechanisms are not completely determined. Less is known concerning the clearance of other organelles, such as smooth and rough ER, Golgi apparatus and ribosomes. Understanding the modulators of organelles clearance in erythropoiesis may elucidate the pathogenesis of different dyserythropoietic diseases such as myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia and anemia.

The inhibition of photosynthesis after supplying glucose to detached leaves of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) was used as a model system to search for mechanisms which potentially contribute to the "sink" regulation of photosynthesis. Detached leaves were supplied with 50 mM glucose or water for 7 d through the transpiration stream, holding the leaves in low irradiance (16 μmol photons m(-2) s(-1)) and a cycle of 9 h light/15 h darkness to prevent any endogenous accumulation of carbohydrate. Leaves supplied with water only showed marginal changes of photosynthesis, respiration, enzyme levels or metabolites. When leaves were supplied with 50 mM glucose, photosynthesis was gradually inhibited over several days. The inhibition was most marked when photosynthesis was measured in saturating irradiance and ambient CO2, less marked in saturating irradiance and saturating CO2, and least marked in limiting irradiance. There was a gradual loss of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase-oxygenase (Rubisco) protein, fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase, NADP-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and chlorophyll. The inhibition of photosynthesis was accompanied by a large decrease of glycerate-3-phosphate, an increase of triose-phosphates and fructose-1,6-bisphospate, and a small decrease of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate. The stromal NADPH/NADP ratio increased (as indicated by increased activation of NADP-malate dehydrogenase), and the ATP/ADP ratio increased. Chlorophyll-fluorescence analysis indicated that thylakoid energisation was increased, and that the acceptor side of photosystem II was more reduced. Similar results were obtained when glucose was supplied by floating leaf discs in low irradiance on glucose solution, and when detached spinach leaves were held in high light to produce an endogenous accumulation of carbohydrate. Feeding glucose also led to an increased rate of respiration. This was not accompanied by any changes of pyruvate kinase, phosphofructokinase, or pyrophosphate: fructose-6-phosphate phosphotransferase activity. There was a decrease of phosphoenolpyruvate, glycerate-3-phosphate and glycerate-2-phosphate, an increase of pyruvate and triose-phosphates, and an increased ATP/ADP ratio. These results show (i) that accumulation of carbohydrate can inhibit photosynthesis via a long-term mechanism involving a decrease of Rubisco and other Calvin-cycle enzymes and (ii) that respiration is stimulated due to an unknown mechanism, which increases the utilisation of phosphoenolpyruvate.

Sediment Maturity refers to the length of time that the sediment has been in the sedimentary cycle. Texturally mature sediment is sediment that is well rounded, (as rounding increases with transport distance and time) and well sorted (as sorting gets better as larger clasts are left behind and smaller clasts are carried away. Because the weathering processes continues during sediment transport, mineral grains that are unstable near the surface become less common as the distance of transport or time in the cycle increases. Thus compositionally mature sediment is composed of only the most stable minerals.

For example a poorly sediment containing glassy angular volcanic fragments, olivine crystals and plagioclase is texturally immature because the fragments are angular, indicating they have not been transported very far and the sediment is poorly sorted, indicating that little time has been involved in separating larger fragments from smaller fragments. It is compositionally immature because it contains unstable glass along with minerals that are not very stable near the surface - olivine and plagioclase.

Parents need to know that Breaking Bad isn't intended for kids. Its intense, morally ambiguous characters and storylines are meant for mature audiences. Main character Walter White (Bryan Cranston) starts out as an essentially good person who's driven to extreme negative behavior (manufacturing methamphetamines and more) by depression and desperation. Over the course of the show, his good side becomes less and less evident as he eventually turns into a drug lord. There's a good bit of swearing (including "f--k"), frequent violence (sometimes extremely graphic), and some sexual content (a woman is shown topless; intercourse, sex work, and oral sex are implied but not shown). Latino characters perpetuate stereotypes, and women are portrayed as nagging. The making and abuse of drugs are core to the series. 041b061a72
